Is it possible in any way (with custom image or anything) to send an SSH (or any) command to STB (MAG250) to switch channels?

I would like to call a program by name, id, or any other parameter and get it displayed on my MAG250.

There are a few tools that might allow you to do this. I'm not 100% on what you are trying to accomplish, but have a look at Touch Control Server along with a USBUIRT. I have built custom mapping for my phone (or computer) to control a number of devices. Wouldn't be hard to control another type of STB, so long as the remote control can be read into the USBUIRT.
