That was the Merriam-Webster dictionary's meaning of the word 'humane'.

This movie is about a program sponsored by government and contracted out to private companies. The government entices people and their loved ones to join and eventually be euthanized. If they sign up then the family left still alive gets 'bright shining things'... in other words they get money and wealth and their freedoms.
But not really any freedoms thou, they are alive is about all the freedoms they have or get.

They titled the movie Humane and that's disturbing.
