Lightbulb My experience with Kodi add-ons for the service

Soooo this is my first post as I'm quite new here. I admire the dedication seen in trying to work through what seems to be an insurmountable issue.. well at least for now. Its quite awesome to see folks give so freely of their time. Now I have done quite a bit of reading before posting so I wouldn't look like a complete idiot but that may be unavoidable considering they are waaayy to many posts to read. I thought I'd share a summary of my experience thus far. I'm a former nfps|iks user with a sat box. I've been using Kodi for a while but mostly for vid's... now i'm trying IPTV.

Now onto the real matters. All the URLs I've posted are merely re-posts of dedicated persons hell bent on helping out. I'm using Kodi 17.1 and I will be mentioning the built in IPTV simple client, Potato tv and built in stalker client.

    Potato TV
I've used the Potato TV guide outlined here "http://iptvtalk.net/showthread.php?2...EPG-Kodi-16-17". By far the easiest to setup. This is the 2nd best clear cut guide in my opion that I've come across in this forum. Well done. However the PVR channel load as mentioned never shows on kodi boot as suggested in my experience. I've reset and re-install kodi 3 times with the same result. The IPTV however does work from within Potato but very very few channels work. It appears to have nothing to do wiith the app.

    Stalker Client
I've used the stalker guide outlined here "http://iptvtalk.net/showthread.php?2...et-up-tutorial" Probably the best. Very detailed. Nicely done. Unfortunately it doesn't work, well at least for me. At first I assumed its the URL change that could be the culprit but after a couple URLs resets on iks66, and generating new MACs using the generator "http://www.miniwebtool.com/mac-address-generator/" I just gave up.....well rather put that on pause.

    IPTV Simple Client.
Second easiest to setup in terms of getting channels to show. I'm still prowling around for working epg config that can be consumed by a mortal instead of a super geek mind...lol. As with potato TV the same thing happens. Very very few channels work.

I've probaly gone 2 weeks now without actually getting to watch any IPTV considering I opted for a month subscription as trial to see if I can truely cable cut. So far.........well .. I'm still searching but the xtream-codes comment above has peaked my interest.

I moved your post to a new thread, as it is only partially about the potato TV add-on. I'm not sure, but I think you are asking about the xtream-codes IPTV add-on.

The answers you seek are indeed in the forum, but maybe not as obvious as they should be, as the change to the m3u playlist method is relatively new. My general recommendation is to avoid using Stalker clients (like PVR Stalker or the STB Emu) unless you absolutely have to, and stick to add-ons that use playlists instead. Stalker clients aren't hard to configure, just some seem to have issues. Issues with m3u lists are probably just using the right link, and entering the m3u url properly. Actually, xtream-codes IPTV is the simplest to configure, it just needs the portal url and your donation number for the username and password... no need to use a m3u playlist as the add-on does it for you. Potato TV is like that as well.

    Cool

Yes I was entrigued and willing to give it a try.

Update...Decided to take one more stab at stalker before jumping on xstream-codes add-on [which I found here "https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=!...&action=locate"].... [Note I have no control over this link. It was working at the time of post and contained the mentioned add-on.]
After a couple more IP resets https://iks66.tv/main/search here the built-in stalker client magically works !!!! Ureka.. Go figure. The catch is it is only with this portal address for 66 "http://s1.iptv66.tv/c/" ... Full epg but still there is general little channels working so this appears to be common across IPTV tools. Anyone know if this is being worked on?

Since I'm still up I will give Xtream a try now..

Most of the channels here are working. Your list does not represent working channels for the services. You have an issue with your set-up. It's hard to tell what you are using or how you have things configured, since you have tried many different approaches. Many of the channels you list do not require authentication, so they will work even if your set-up is improper. You are not getting channels that require authentication, which is the majority of the channels.

I get this channel regardless of what I'm using. Right now the setup is with the stalker client as described here "http://iptvtalk.net/showthread.php?2...et-up-tutorial in dara's post with MAC auth. Stalker authenticates. I'm connecting to IPTV66 via this URL http://s1.iptv66.tv/c without and external EPG. I generated the MAC in the 00:1A:78 frormat so I'm not sure what I'm missing. I've reached out to support to reconfirm donation is find but basically got back a duplicate of the original email stating it running. I'll try repeating this step to see if it helps.
In Kodi Settings, Services > TV (or Live TV) > General; Click "Clear data", and "Enabled" to connect.

this guide was accurate at the time it was posted things change. it has not been proven but i believe the following to no longer be true:
"Set a custom Serial Number, Device IDs and Signature in Advanced
The Serial Number, Device IDs and Signature can be a combination of letters or numbers. Use 13 characters for Serial Number, Any length beyond 13 is good for the Device ID. At the minimum, Serial Number and Device ID are required, Device ID2 and Signature are optional. Token is not used."

if using iptv66 service do NOT enter anything in the serial number and so on fields if youi have something there delete it.

The second post in the instruction thread mentions the fact that the extra credentials may not be needed anymore.

If you are generating your own MAC, you need to add it to your account at the Donation Checker.

Were it me, and I didn't have many add-ons installed (and it sounds like you don't because you mention fresh installs), I'd uninstall Kodi 17 and install Kodi 16.1. I've encountered many more people having problems getting K17 working as opposed to K16.

I have added the MAC to the donation checker site.
I've tried removing the serial and device ID info but auth failed immediately.
I don't have any add-on on this device... I didn't want to risk messing up what I used to get my daily binge so can try the kodi downgrade if nothing else comes to mind.
    Thanks for the responses.
