Yes it's a little buggy, but at least it works.
For those having timeshift issues, it's likely that you have your box set to 4K resolution. Setting the resolution to 1080p has fixed the issue for me.
Just put the device to sleep prior to the recording starting. The box will turn on at the scheduled time, and then turn off after the recording is done.

I was able to resolve this by switching to a Harmony remote. No more interference with my Vizio Soundbar :)
