Powering MAG 254 on?

I have Mag 254. Presently in order to operate the receiver, I have to disconnect by removing the power cable into the receiver and then re inserting in order to turn the unit on? The unit will not turn on simply by only depressng the on button.
Is this a problem on my unit only, or do other users have the same problem?
