Need help

After about a year my Global media box crashed, a factory reset rebooted now with a main screen that is just settings and browser. Don't really know where to go from here any help would be appreciated.

do you have the internet connected or any USB device connected ?
If so, disconect them and reboot.

hit the 8 on your remote 7-8 times or is it the 7 ?....lol

I had forgoten about the 7 eight times or the 8 seven times :)

Unfortunately, neither of these worked. I also looked around the box for a reset button and nothing, or at least I cant seem to find it.

The box has been factory set which is why you only have the two icons
While on the settings screen hit the 8until it goes

if you have an older version hit the 99999
