Isn't Avov can only install Android only apps. on them ?
Can't you load Gotham or Kodi for Android on it ?
Openelec is for Linux O.S. and I don't think you could install it on Android O.S..

zhong is correct, avov is only for apps designed for their customized android OS.

XBMC (Gotham) is being Beta tested on Avov1 though...........I'm using it.......

Read that a smaller version of xbmc or kodi is being worked out for the v1 to offer to the public, v2 has already been tested with kodi full and reported working well. V2 is a more powerful toy :)

I am a beta tester for avov vixo1 and I do run gotham on it perfectly.
I do understand that's it's an android box with the mickyhop proprietary OS on it.

What I'm asking is if I wipe the box and lose the mickyhop system, can it be reinitialized and have Openelec installed on it?
Just like most other android tv boxes.

If you install your own software on the box from scratch you can do anything you want on it. Have to install linux on it after formatting. IMHO though, if you want to do this a cheap android from fleabay would probably be a better candidate. You can get one with more processing power and memory that way.

I have considered overwriting my os but my wife would be upset with me for years after. Maybe when it warms up outside I'll try so there's some way to get away from the wrath.

Well they sent me a TvOnline to test out. So figured i'd play around with the vixo1. Plus my go to box for tv watching is a really powerful intel i5 htpc i built last xmas. So the android boxes are just to play around with.

Actually I wanted to buy Avov because it can install Android apps. and not Mag. 254, but because most people in this forum recommended Mag 254 for the IPTV, that is why I didn't buy Avov.
I think the price of Avov is even cheaper than the Mags..

Openelec can be put on a flash drive using your htpc.you could setup a remote control to work with it........

the big question is why

floder2

Yea ....you have to pay too much for avov boxes to not use their services......other cheaper alternatives for what he is trying to do......

I understand guys.. but the vixo1 is an extra box that i'll put aside now since i got the new tvonline box. so just want to see if i can play around with it.

Why would you want to that to your box? When you can install Openelec to a flash drive and boot off from it from your p.c. and use it.
