    bkman,

What would this address be used for? I thought that fire tvs and sticks had to create MAC addresses beginning with 00:1A:78.

No that's what you use to link you Mac too. So if you mac was 12:34:56:78:91:01. You'd change it to 00:1A:78:78:91:01.

Only use the last six digits of your Mac. Then replace the first six with 00:1A:78

That is incorrect, the last 3 can be random 0-255 in hex. you can use the following link to generate a MAC.

http:// http://www.hellion.org.uk/cgi-bin/ra...type=multicast Then link it to your Donation, if it fails, repeat until you find one that links. Then enter that in to the client.

What I said isn't incorrect. He can use his own, or generate a random Mac.

so if the MAC address links to the donation, it's valid and no one else has it?

Correct. If you want to watch TV at the same time from multiple devices, then you need a donation for each. If you only plan on watching TV on one device at a time then you can use the same MAC.

You are correct that what you said was correct, however the way you worded it, it made it sound like that this is the only MAC he could use and I do not see where you mentioned that he could generate his own MAC. Just trying to make sure that people are not getting confused.
