    Formula 1 Grand Prix 2023

It's gonna be a night race next weekend , starting at 11 pm Saturday night, 18th of November, local time in Las Vegas.

It is gonna be a little on the cold side at that time of night, with temps as low as 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 Celsius).
Keeping their tires to temp will be a thing, and probably just a small thing to be concerned with. The drivers should stay warm with their all their gear on and the heat from the car. The driver's necks may get a bit cool when at the speeds they will get to @200 mph.

This will be the first time they race at Vegas on this Circuit.

"The illusion of freedom will continue for as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will take down the scenery, move the tables and chairs out of the way, then they will pull back the curtains and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater."

I wonder how many drunk drivers will make their way on to the course.

This is going to be a great sight, but maybe a financial wreck for Vegas and F1. Prices of rooms and seats dropped hard, room are near normal prices. Residents hate the disruption.

So they had practice yesterday, at night... but stopped it because a manhole cover popped open on the course 7 minutes into the practice. They postponed but ultimately cancelled the practice session and sent everyone home at 1:30a PT. Lots of people mad, especially those who paid megabucks for a good seat.

    damn.
They may need a welder to secure that manhole

A few hours 'til the start. I watched LeClerc's pole run, this course looks very smooth, but also technical when it goes around that big Sphere. The last big turn at the end of the Strip at Harmon toward the start/finish and pit area is kind of tricky. Its almost like they will be racing in a tunnel though. I hope the spectators get a good view.

I will miss the race tonight as I work thru the night till morning
I did see some of the Qualifying last night. Last I saw was Lewis below the cut line.
Noticed Danica Patrick was on the TV crew, as a color man, or woman in this case.

I'll be checking early in the morning for replay

Actual 'overtaking' in this race. Leclerc lost the lead in the 2nd turn to Verstappen when he got forced out by Verstappen, and the stewards gave a 5 second penalty, ultimately giving the lead back to Leclerc. Then Sergio Perez was able to pass Leclerc because of tire wear, Leclerc recovered the lead on that hard turn at the end of the strip, but Vertappen passed Leclerc.
