The FDA and the CDC and the HIH and a whole list of others are controlled by Pharma.
Look who sits on their Boards will show us that.
Pharma lobbies the government. Those very lobbists go thru a revolving door from government officials to lobbists and back and forth.

yes the government needs to be held accountable, but they are not the ones in charge. Pharma is and has been a very long time.

But that doesn't excuse them from taking payoffs to approve anything. It would be no different if I owned every poppy field and paid them off to use opioids on kids with ADHD.It's their stamp of approval that affects everyone.

There should be a moral safeguard at each level.
Yes some people live with excruciating pain on a daily basis and need some type of help with it My mother in law had some of the nerves in her hands clipped years ago from overwork she had pressure and pain of severe carpal tunnel that had damaged the nerves so they would not be relieved just by the pressure release.
It should be possible for a pharmacist to refuse to fill a prescription for a dangerous drug and substitute a non addictive medicine, also for a pharmacy not to keep them on hand, and for a doctor to write a substitution or procedure to relieve the problem.
Above all there should be an ongoing priority search for a better way instead of just throwing death at people.

Five 'doctors' pleaded guilty in a pain pill prescription scheme involving clinics in West Virginia and Virginia, federal prosecutors said Monday.
The scheme was tied to the Hope Clinic and involved prescribing oxycodone and other controlled substances that weren’t for legitimate medical purposes from 2010 to 2015.
The 'doctors' signed numerous oxycodone prescriptions for a customer at a Charleston Hope Clinic in 2013. They admitted that the customer’s medical chart did not support the prescriptions, which were not for a legitimate medical purpose, prosecutors said.
