Mag devices with Ministra TV middleware are not compatable with papiao services

This is old news now, approx 2 or 3 years old. But there still are people purchasing new informir devices (Mag devices), so we may need an Announcement about this.

Once a person gets their new Mag device and try connecting to papiao they find that it is blocked. The block is due to the middleware that the informir devices are now using.

Mag boxes at about two or three or even maybe 4 years ago changed their middleware from Stalker to Ministra
What this means is that the papiao services supported here are no longer compatible with those receivers.

Sorry to tell you but those Mag receivers equipped with Ministra TV middleware will not work with papiao.

I had a couple members message me asking me 'which Mag devices would work then' ?

The simple answer is the older models would work. The 250s and 254s and the 323s and etc would be the ones that still would work with iptv services.
Any new model from informir starting about 3 or 4 years ago would not work.

BUT the answer is not that simple.
And the reason why is because informir revamped some of their older models and installed Ministra on them and then put them on the market.
So even when buying an older 254 model from a 3rd party source for instance, it is NOT a guarantied thing that it has Stalker or Ministra onboard, as it may be one of the devices that were revamped and sold as new awhile go.

So to be sure you'd need to investigate each device if indeed it has Stalker or Ministra , that you may find for sale as a used older model.

There is also a Hybrid model which carries an Android Operating System and therefore it could be used with a 3rd party iptv android app or also Kodi could be used.
The 420 model was a hybrid and is an older model, but there is a new hybrid model which I do not remember the model designation at this time.
Infomir's website will show you which model is the Hybrid and which models carry the Stalker or the Ministra.
I can tell you thou that on that website listed in the specs for each model it will be the Ministra listed there.

Another thing to know is that before this Ministra replaced Stalker (3 or 4 years ago), infomir sent out a file for their devices and that file blocked the device from connecting to a iptv service. There is a way around that thou and it comes in the form of a file
    NO_BLOCK file

It is here and can be found in the Sticky threads in the Mag254 forum area.
Seems thou that infomir cancelled that form of counter attack against iptv services, but the fix is still here and works if ever needed.
Moral of that story is to not ever again allow your old Mag device to take an update (over the air update), as that update may in fact be that dreaded Block file.
