Clint Bowyer has just won his first pole in 431 starts.

The Stewart-Haas Racing driver earned the pole at the South Point 400 on Saturday and will have a great chance to earn his first win of the season and a spot in the second round of the playoffs.

SHR drivers swept the top four spots in qualifying as Bowyer was first, Daniel Suarez was second, Kevin Harvick third and Aric Almirola fourth.

This is the first race of NASCAR's playoffs and a win gets you into the second round.

Bowyer was on the bubble before qualifying for the playoffs but he should be able to put himself into good position going forward.

Richard Childress Racing also had a good day as Daniel Hemric will start sixth and Austin Dillon will be seventh.
