Game of Thrones creators leave HBO for Netflix - can you say 200 million dollars !

Netflix latest contract with “Game of Thrones” (HBO) creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, reportedly worth around $200 million.
As part of the deal, Benioff and Weiss will no longer be producing shows for HBO and will work on projects exclusively for Netflix, with the exception of the two’s existing commitment to an ongoing multi-film deal with Disney for the Star Wars franchise.

    quote..
Benioff and Weiss thanked HBO, but naturally made no mention of the project Confederate, an alternative history show centered on a version of America in which the South won the Civil War and slavery persisted. The idea, which Benioff and Weiss pitched to HBO in 2017, received immense backlash from critics and the public. Many displeased fans saw a project helmed by two white men — creators with questionable track records regarding race and slavery on Game of Thrones — that would potentially treat American slavery as a form of titillating entertainment, instead of a structural force still very much embedded into modern politics and society.
The future of Confederate has been uncertain in the two years since. Yet now, it appears Confederate will not be getting made after all. THR reports that the show has been shelved indefinitely, while the Netflix deal absolves Benioff and Weiss of ever having to touch it again.
"The illusion of freedom will continue for as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will take down the scenery, move the tables and chairs out of the way, then they will pull back the curtains and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater."

Good luck Netflix. Dave and Dan rushed the ending of Game of Thrones, so they could cash in. I wouldn't be a long term investor in NFLX, I thing long term Disney will be a better investment, and a better day trade.

Netflix knows there is power and success when it comes to numbers. The number of subscribers will continue to increase as advertising time increases to the point where a half hour show becomes an hour show and greed continues to take over the cyclops in your living room. After spending some time in Europe where advertising has to begin and end before a program begins. No advertising during the main program which is a concept that will never be adopted in the West due to the way television producers and broadcasters have staked their control over what the CRTC and American broadcasters want and how they want it.
Imagine, giving consumers what they want and at a price that drove cable tv straight to the poor house without a single ad to compensate them for it. Shaw, Telus, Rogers, Bell are now trying to play catch up via their internet ploys, gimmicks and temporary offers that lead to driving their profit margins higher than before.
One can only hope Netflix keeps an eye on how their base has grown without a CEO with their eyes on the advertising market.
