aren't different colours different gauges?

Back when I fooled with cars the gauges weren't always different. If needed I would track a wire from under the dash through the firewall and have my wife check it for colors.
Dodge if I can hold the two wires side by side I can see the similarily or difference but not from under the dash and then through the firewall or to the tail lights.
So all in all it's bitch.
