    SmartSteering

If SmartSteering is enabled, the T3200M will configure the same wireless network name and passphrase on both 2.4 and 5 GHz wireless radios. Wireless clients will be moved back and forth between the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless radios based upon signal strength to improve performance.

In the above C/P they are talking about a Telus supplied T3200M router/modem.
That SmartSteering option when enabled, may mess with your android device and it may loose connection at times, or may not even show any 5 G networks.
Disable that SmartSteering thru your router configuration panel.
Simply changing the name of each network so the names are different from each other, may have the same results as disabling the SmartSteering.
Disabling the SmartSteering will also automatically change the names of each network for you.

If you do that and also have a laptop on wifi or xbox or any wifi device, you will have to reconnect the device by re-adding the wifi password and logging back on line.
As well you will have to re-add the wifi password to your android device.

    Another useful tip from Andy
    thnx Andy

"The illusion of freedom will continue for as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will take down the scenery, move the tables and chairs out of the way, then they will pull back the curtains and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater."
