Record feature

I tried the record feature on this Xtreanz X1
Records just fine But when I try and play back Live> Recording > pick the finished recording I want to replay, all i get is the line that keep going up and down forever
Is this normal or what is the problem I am recording to a USB stick
If I use the VLC It plays back just fine
It would be nice if the playback would work off the record feature
