Making Factory Reset without Knowing PIN

Hello. A friend handed me a DL T1 because it is acting up. I tried to do a factory reset but my friend can't remember his PIN. I tried the default PIN (4 zeroes) plus the PINs he suggested but no go. I also tried the factory reset procedure posted in this section using a jump drive. It shows "Installing system update..." then "Error" after few seconds.

Is there any other way to factory reset this box? Is there a master code for Dreamlink T1?
