AC/DC star Malcolm Young dies aged 64 after dementia battle

AC/DC star Malcolm Young has died aged 64, his family have confirmed.
The Glaswegian guitarist, who was founding member of the legendary rockers, passed away after battling dementia for several years.
A heartfelt statement released by his family said: ‘It is with deepest sorry that we inform you of the death of Malcolm Young, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother.
"Malcolm had been suffering from dementia for several years and passed away peacefully on Saturday with his family by his bedside.
"Renowned for his musical prowess, Malcolm was a songwriter, guitarist, performer, producer and visionary who inspired many.
"From the outset he knew what he wanted to achieve and, along with his younger brother, took to the world stage giving their all at every show. Nothing less would do for their fans."Malcolm was born in Glasgow on January 6, 1953, and was best known for his role as co-founder, guitarist and songwriter for the hard rock band.
At the age of ten Malcolm and his family, including fellow band-mate Angus, emigrated to Australia, settling in Syndey.
Apart from a brief break in 1988 to address his drinking problem, Young performed with the band from 1973 to 2014 - when he stopped performing after becoming seriously ill.
Young and the rest of the band's work was immortalized when they were admitted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003.
It was later reported that he was suffering with dementia, and did so for the last three years up until his passing.
His nephew, Stevie, replaced him during their most recent tour - Rock or Bust - in the same year.
Malcolm is survived by his loving wife O'Linda, children Cara and Ross, son-in-law Josh, three grandchildren, sister and brother.
Tributes have already started to come in, with fellow musicians paying their respects to the 'songwriter, guitarist and visionary'

This is one of acdc first big hit in America. I think Dale Evans was the original singer when they wrote this song.... but maybe Bon was with ACDC by that time... not sure about that.
Malcolm is on lead guitar in this video, with his brother Angus in his school boy uniform
They have another brother too, he is in the production end of things.
The Youngs were not Auusies as some think. Their parents moved them from England to Australia when they were just young lads.
Same with Bon Scott, he was from England too. Dale Evans may have been an Aussie thou
