Anyone notice how hard it is to actually buy their own router and use it in bridge mode with one of the big four's modem/router/gateways ? Well, it seems they are tightening the noose so bridging or using your own router will be all but impossible as they're moving in with tighter controls. They use "Remote Management" which is preconfigured to work with their own gateways and they want you to believe they aren't bridgeable but its something they prefer not to talk about as it keeps the little people out of the loop.
They use remote management to control pretty much everything that connects to their internet services and it provides them with a log with full details on where, when and for how long although bandwidth is also measured with the appropriate billing. Anyone who thinks Crave Tv or Shomi was a gift to compete with Netflix will know better when they get their bills with the bandwidth charges. As for IPTV, its going to help keep the billing down on one end but the bandwidth billing will help them make up the difference....

If you shop around, you'll find there are some internet providers who provide similar services without the bandwidth billing and according to Marth, "its a good thing".........
