Kenny Wells (Matthew McConaughey) , a prospector desperate for a lucky break, teams up with a similarly eager geologist (Édgar RamÃ*rez) and sets off on an amazing journey to find gold in the uncharted jungle of Indonesia. Getting the gold was hard but keeping it is even more difficult, sparking an adventure through the most powerful boardrooms of Wall Street.
The movie is based loosely on true events around David Walsh and the small Bre-X minerals company in Canada.

McConaughey delivers his heavy drinking, heavy smoking, gold obsessed character with ease. It is a real roller coaster ride of bribery, corruption and back stabbing which is stereotypical of places such as Indonesia (and Wall Street!)
Well worth a watch IMHO.

McConaughey does fit into the part very well too.
It has a twist to the story that was unexpected.

Much of the movie was shot in Thailand. It was a shot in a total of four different countries.
