factory reset on 256

Was trying to change video mode on my 256 and now I get a message on the screen saying that this video mode not supported and I cannot get out of this screen to change
Anyway to do an external factory reset or another way to fix this problem

Went about it a different way
Hooked up the 256 to another tv that supported 1080 and changed the video setting back to auto
then reinstalled it on the tv where it was originally
in the end it all worked

I was gonna suggest just that starrrman.
I got side tracked last night thou and never got back.
