    1080i or 1080p

    What is the difference in 1080i and 1080p and would it make a difference if you use the wrong one to set up your mag245

    1080i is a most common standard in USA. 1080p will set the to Pal system which some TV don't handled

    The difference lies in how the display lines are scanned. While both resolution standards display 1080 vertical lines, with 1080i the lines are "interlaced" - meaning the odd-numbered lines are painted on the screen first followed by the even-numbered lines.

    While 1080p video is definitely preferable to 1080i, it’s also worth noting that unless you’ve got above-average eyesight, you probably won’t be able to notice a difference between the two on smaller screens.

    Thanks for the info. I am using the 1080p and everything is fine. I was just wondering what the difference was and you guys relayed that info to me. I appreciate it.

    In the early years of the HD tv's I had an employee of Best Buys argue to me that the 720P was better than the 1080i. I could never convene him otherwise, so, needless to say Best Buys lost a sale and I went with a better store and bought the Sony 1080P I am still grateful for my choice. I can definately tell the difference in 720P and 1080i, even though the local networks nor Dish offer anything as high as 720P. You also need to look at the refresh rate! The faster the refresh rate the better live feeds like fast action sports look a lot better.

    The "p" is better for fast action sports etc..
    Or so I was told back in the day.
    P = progressive scan
    i = interlaced
