Box function questions?

Hey guys, just had a couple of questions. Firstly, I'd like to say home much I like this box and the team working on it deserves a lot of praise, keep up the good work gang!
Now onto my questions,
#1 - Could a setting be made that would have a slider bar to adjust the boot-up sound/volume?
#2 - Could it be possible with the help of the new middleware that's to be coming out soon, to have my box cache my recorded content on a networked drive with the intent of being able to record a show in one room and watch it in another? Assuming I had two boxes with two different codes.
Not looking to scimp on codes, just for functionality sake
