I believe the next one you'll be able to update through OTA once KK 4.4.2 is installed...Here's a c/p of the changelog.

update 2 just came out is that better ?
I got an early xmas present and wow is it nice ,been playing some movies on this thing and is fast and over all works well.was just looking at the other post and iam reading a bit on how to do it manually as well as ota.Wife was nice and she said mustless well open your present and play before xmas .lol and that is exactly what iam doing.

yeah the one I got is x8-h, think the update works for both the x8 and the x8h,will try it tomorrow since my firm ware is about a month late and it comes with older vercion.

Been reported for the x8 and x8-h that not all usb sticks will work for the upgrade.
I however can say a Kingston usb stick will work for it.
