Mag 254 Will not load unless with HDMI Settings

Yes! Both boxes are with the latest version ans the configurations are identical. I think that box is defective.

I did that. Different HDMI and different HDMI port on TV; same outcome. I think the box is defective. I think I will have to give up on it.

My conclusion is that the box is defective so I will just use the new box only.

Try doing a factory default

you should also check for networking conflicts..
