    Question XMLTV or Provider?

    Good evening guys and gals

Like the title says, we have an option to choose in Stalker Client's Guide preferences to use either XMLTV or Provider, which one should we use or it doesn't really matter? I've been thinking about this for a while now and finally I thought I'm going to ask.

    Thank you.

The XMLTV option is to link to a customized guide, while the Provider uses the one from the server itself. The most complete guide for the servers will always be the ********** which is created by the Clairvoyance team, but the servers do use a feed from them as well, at least for now.

If you are using a different server than supported here, use the Provider option, otherwise read up on the ********** option and how to implement it.

Hey Dara, Thank you for explaining. I already have the EPG running on a stalker client for a while now. I was just curious about the XMLTV and Provider difference. I thought maybe one works better then the other but guess not.

xmltv has more metadata and color codes show type by genre.. the server strips that metadata and the guide is all grey... thats about the only difference really.. the xmltv file is also updated sooner with new channel additions and fixes, those follow through to the server pull eventually as well once proven stable..

Thank you Psycon, that's exactly the answer I was looking for. I was asking because I noticed that whenever I open the full EPG not the Channel List I'm taking a big hit on my RAM. Using Raspberry Pi 2 OSMC. Not a big deal just thought I'm gonna ask.
