Waiting on Kodi

Curious question when changing channels in kodi, if the channel is down, kodie just sits there saying working. During this time you know the channel must be down so you try to switch to another channel but you can't until kodi stops saying working. Is there any way to shorting the time of kodi saying "working" aka reaching for the down channel? I know on my AVOV that if a channel is down i can just go to another channel.
