Problem solved by changing my wireless from WEP to WPA2/AES encryption. Apparently, the new software releases no longer support WEP, although it's still an option in the Network configuration screen.

Updated to R19, and couldn't log on to my SSID, the same as R17. Backed up to R14, and was able to log on to my SSID. I'm using WEP encryption mode for my SSID key. Do I need another encryption mode...
