Amazon lands NFL 'Thursday Night Football' streaming rights

Amazon Prime customers will have another bonus coming their way starting in the fall.

The online retailer has won the rights to stream the NFL's 'Thursday Night Football' package for the 2017 season, according to The Wall Street Journal and the Sports Business Journal.

Amazon beat out Facebook, Twitter and YouTube for the streaming rights.

ESPN reports the deal is worth $50 million. Amazon will simulcast the NFL Network feed. CBS and NBC split the 'Thursday Night Football' package on television at a price of $225 million.

Twitter paid $10 million for NFL online streaming rights last season.

Twitter's NFL streams had 265,000 viewers on an average minute basis during the 2016 NFL season.

Only Amazon customers who pay for its Prime service will have access.

Amazon charges $99 per year, or $10.99 a month, for its Prime service.

Amazon will get 10 NFL games as part of the deal. The NFL schedule comes out later this month.
