I have a older Tv that supports 1080I which is HDTV ready, I cannot turn off the Mag 254 as it keeps on coming on with this. Is there a way to put it on standby as it will not turn off with this converter unless I unplug the mag or the converter.Opinions on this.

yes, go into settings & select 'ignore hdmi changes, or close to that.. otherwise it will keep turning itself on anytime the hdmi port senses a change.. u may even find that in settings menu in inner portal. i can check in about 20 minutes or so...

Are you sure about that. I will have to check what you are saying.

Norton, in your situation you can try this: In the outer portal (main screen) scroll rt to settings, ok-then scroll down to video, ok, then you will see HDMI event reaction, the default is
immediately. Try changing this to the ignore option if it doesn't work you can always change it back......K00l

How do you know all of this? As I know a little about these features that most people will not have a clue.

hard to disrupt an android :)

Get into your menus, and get into them deeper
remember that it is hard to disrupt an android :)

lol.. but that has nothing to do with this

I like to play with the box and put it through it's paces, Norton. In the inner portal on main screen go down and to center to menu guide and read til your eyes bleed...good info

Sorry for the lack of knowledge, I was having issues with my lap top. Out of sight out of mind, takes a bit since this is new. But in reality this is really easy but without the knowledge it seems not to easy.

36" flat screen can not get much older than that. 2 component input made into 3 component ,1 svideo ,1 HDMI 1.4 to component & 4 SPDIF into 6.1 old school stereo.

It's nice to squeeze every last drop out of old technology. I'm still doing that with an old stereo system for audio out of the new smart TV. Needed a digital to analog converter. lol

I have 2 for real FTA. I must admit HD looks amazing on an old tube. When I bought this tv it was 2600.00 plus tax it was pretty expensive.

Only 1 HDMI? My two year old 55" has 4 HDMI inputs and it's not enough. One went bad and just bought a 3 input HDMI switch with remote which adds two more so I have 5 which is what I now need in the entertainment center as follows.

1. DN 129 HD box
2. PBS 125/Sky Mex 58 box
3. Mag 254 Rocket IPTV
4. Desktop PC
5. Nfusion HD (best PQ)

The first 3 are on the HDMI switch with nice fast remote control input changes. Nice.

In 2002 they did not have HDMI I believe it started in 2003. Still for an old Flat tube tv looks pretty awesome.

when your Smart TV is off , how do you turn it on?
Do you give the Smart TV a command and say TV ON ... and then it turns on ?
If so then what does that mean?
It means that even when the TV is OFF it is listening and just who is listening ???

Keep that older TV norton :)

I read about that 1984 comes to mind. I keep on debating about getting a big ass TV, but for a tube it still looks pretty awesome even in SD. I guess when it dies time to move on, but this tv seems like the energizer bunny.

thanks after 15 beers I guess I should know better as you had told me exactly what needed to be done. If I did not have this converter you would not have to disable it? in main screen go to settings, scroll down to inner portal,ok> go to settings,ok>scroll to interface,ok>you will now see HDMI event reaction, disable this and ok to save..

Also did not help that my lap top was taking forever to up date & had to go to my desktop. Memory(mine) is better when information is in front of you with the TV & Mag on.

Norton, the facts or what they are. I believe your box is working as you wanted now because you took the necessary steps to ensure it. Without the converter, you would obviously not have had to disable some of the features.

Many of those older TV's have better PQ on SD than the newer ones that are tuned for HD.
