Jailbreak Roku? Can I be allowed to discuss that here?

I understand security problems of unmodified boxes totally as explained by Mods.

I found an exploit that can jailbreak a Roku 2. That would allow adding 3rd party software such as XBMC.

Can I please be allowed to discuss that here? I do not want to break any rules and get booted. So, first I ask.

My thoughts are that a jailbroken box no longer poses those risks.

The first problem I see is we have no roku section or advanced testing section. To exploit the roku there is a chance of bricking it and members would always blame the op for not warning them beforehand or not explaining the risk. To me, I love advanced testing and encourage it every chance I get.

But, I only work here so the decision for allowing is not mine. I can say as long as you give warning and post it in this thread I don't see a problem. If it's deemed un-allowable we'll just delete it like it never happened.

Also, exploits in roku have happened before and they try to kill them quickly, so it may not work after their next update IMHO.
