so far there been 3 installments in this franciase and the fourth is slated to be release Oct 20 2018

And the 4th will be Overload
**Overload is now no longer part of the Cloverfield franchise and will be released as a stand alone flic.
The 4th Cloverfield installment is still in the books thou :)
They are all related and the Paradox film does let us know just how they are related.
In the Paradox film, they were trying to save the world or the people of the world by creating a energy source that only could be tested in outerspace (that is how dangerous it was of a test).
Things went bad thou.
Somehow in all the mess, the dimensions were twisted and intertwined.
This latest installment is actually how it all began and is seen where and why these monsters and aliens have came from... and plus some other clues .
Check out the monster coming out of the clouds at the end of Cloverfield Paradox !!!
Its the same monster in Cloverfield (first installment).
The producers and directors of this franchaise have thought it out well, even had an online thing going with reports of things that were actually hints as to how the movies tied together and with some 'war of the worlds' type reporting too.
The fourth installment (Overlord) has been rumored to be about zoombie nazis soilders... I don't know how that will tie in but in outer demensions, who the frig knows.
Oh yea, and if you watch the first one CLOVERFIELD, and at the end our heroes supposedly are toast as that monster is not to be stopped... but wait till all ending credits have almost finished and you will hear a voice from one of our heroes... maybe an ' in ' for another sequel maybe and not even related to them zombie nazi;s !! :)
