I've saw this one mentioned in an earlier thread here at the Movies. I hadn't seen it yet thou, so I checked it out tonight.
I enjoy Lehane's work and kowing the writer's style, this movie follows that and makes the movie experience all the better (Mystic River, Gone Baby gone and Shelter Island.
It's what they call a 'slow burner' , the plot is very busy with the suspense building. There's a few scenes that make you open your eyes, but yet you saw it coming.

Bob runs a bar in Brooklyn, owned by his cousin Marv. Cousin Marv at one time worked for the mob, but since has been forceably reassigned to his retirement and his bar. Cousin Marv ain't so happy about things.
Bob, well Bob is the character to watch. Solid to the core, and sorta scary.

Tom Hardy as Bob Saginowski - "They never see you coming, do they, Bob?"
James Gandolfini as Cousin Marv - the late Gandolfini's final appearance in a feature film. Gandolfini had one more role after this one, it was in an un-aired TV series Pilot.
Noomi Rapace as Nadia
Matthias Schoenaerts as Eric Deeds
John Ortiz as Detective Torres

Directed by Michaël R. Roskam
Screenplay written by Dennis Lehane
Based on Lehane's 2009 short story, "Animal Rescue"
Released theatrically on September 12, 2014
Budget $12.6 million
Box office $18.7 million

'It’s impossible to take your eyes off Tom Hardy, who plays a bartender named Bob in the draggy but atmospheric mob thriller. You need to watch him every second for clues to the character’s slow, unassertive, yet hyperalert demeanor, to his complicated simpleness.
He’s a peacemaker — yet his center is scary-solid. He stays upright even when he’s handling severed limbs or staring into the face of psychotic killers'
New York Magazine/Vulture

'It's not clear how accurate "The Drop" is as a Brooklyn movie, but it feels like it's an accurate portrayal of something'
Tampa Bay Times

'It's a slow and steady mystery with a couple scenes sure to make your jaw drop'
The Patriot Ledger

'The Drop is an atmospheric crime story with fine performances, especially from star Tom Hardy. As for the plot - well, it keeps the characters busy'
