newbie here, i have spend three days to get the guide to populate....i am using s2.iptv66.tv

i have used several different XML files i am unable to populate the guide. I have also tried Potato TV and and before that I was using PVR IPTV Simple client (EPG) - I have locally tried uploaded XML file as well as the url. I tried the Stalker but i was not able to get even the channels to populate, that add-on seems too much room for error with all the info that is required, i think i will skip that.

Potato TV has three options to select xml files i have tried all three, nothing.

This may be related to time zone i have a feeling - i was able to populate one file, (mc2xml) file, that seems to populate all the channels however that file has the timing not correct for some weird reason its almost 8 hours off. i googled it seem like some others complaint related to it...

its brand new kodi install with osmc on rasbarry pie - what could be, i know some have issues and some dont

Any help will be appreciate it

Thanks

Roger

I have no idea what guides you've tried. I have no idea how you tried to use them. The default guides in Potato TV are no longer working, but a different guide can be specified in IPTV Simple client if it is being used with Potato TV. (For example, you could use the guides mentioned below.)

The guides that are alluded to in the thread below...Ken's and Acidjesus'...work if they are set-up correctly. Read the thread for the URLs and the mechanics for setting them up.

They're both working. You can check them both in your browser. Try deleting guide and channel data and restarting. The other Acid address is working fine, too. It downloaded data earlier today.

hmm, does it matter if i upload the file locally or use the URL?

It shouldn't. Either way, it should be the same file.

This TV Guide situation sucks with this provider. every day there is a problem - i have to clear cache or reboot every day to get the guide to work. some days the time is not sync. i now added the URL and its working now. you are correct. i am new to IPTV i am quickly finding out the Guide is not consistent

These guides are done by volunteers on their own time and dime. They're not asking for anything in return. Moreover, I do not have the guide issues that you have, so I wonder what is going on at your end. I don't believe the criticism is warranted.

Acidjesuz guide "what I remember him posting", is a daily guide updated every 24 hrs.
If you are downloading a local copy, you are going to have gaps.
Even kens guide will give you problems doing it that way.
It is a 4 day guide, updated on day 3.
Pick the wrong day, get less than 24 hrs of guide data.
Use the URL. If you have problems still, post more info!!!

Couple things to check...
- ensure "Prevent updates during playback" is disabled.
- # of days to display, is set to more than 1 (3 is good).
- Shutdown your unit daily.

If you're downloading Acid's 24 hour guide, you will need to download a new copy every day. Otherwise, the data will run out and you'll have an empty guide. Realize, too, that you need to time the downloading correctly. If the guide "runs out" at 6:00 PM and you download it at 3:00 PM, you'll only have three hours of program data. When downloading a guide, it's all about the timing.

Since you are new I will give you a couple of settings to check in your setup: In pvr settings under the EpG tab, enable the Cache XMLTV at local storage; In TV Settings, enable Don't cache in local database. Also set the update interval to something like 120 min and uncheck Prevent updates during playback.

This should help you out. However, as a rule of thumb, you should either reboot kodi every day to get the guide to update (it gets updated daily at 6pm CST) or you will have to clear data (in TV > Guide) to get fresh data.

This is the way the pvr and guide work together, so just get used to it; it works just fine once you get used to it.

Again, this is just rule of thumb kind of thing as each person's setup is different and may have its own quirks/needs. Only you will know that as you learn about your system.

Essentially, it boils down to taking about 2 minutes each day and you'll have a fully-populated, working guide.
