i just heard gord has passed away last night.

It was a lingering slow death but still sad news.

Tragically Hip and more so Gord Downie, is a Canadian icon.

When the radio station here in upper Alberta heard about his death at 7 am this morning, they stopped all regular programing and have been playing the Hip ever since. No other music, every song is from the Hip. Hardly any news braeks, no road reports. They even stopped most advertising commercials and all their contests and regular stuff.. All stopped.. Only Gord our buddy and the Hip :)

Try and shut a radio station down like that for any other artist, well it just does not happen.
Tom Petty on that same station had a bit of the same but only one or two songs from Petty every hour. The Hip been playing non stop since 7 am this morning !
