Is there such thing as genuine android tv boxes? seems like the internet is filled with clones of each other. Anyone recommend some brands i can check out? Thanks!

minix does android the best of them all they have there own optimized build of kodi that is kinda like spmc but even more stable no video judder.... if all your doing is kodi tho take a look at raspberrypi it's Linux build is far more superior to android

"Android TV" is a variant of the Android OS, designed to run on some set top boxes. So there is no specific box named "Android TV". The OS is also found on some smart TVs. It is a trademark owned by Google, so there are legal and not-so-legal installs on boxes that can call themselves as having that OS variant on them. I'm sure that there are some boxes out there that are clones of licensed boxes that have that OS.

Generic boxes (and some branded boxes) have a free version of the Andoid OS that can be installed on laptops and other google devices. You really can't call those Android TVs. However, you can install Kodi, which will have many features of Android TV for free.
