Sometimes you don't have an optical cable input or output and you don't want to spend the money to buy an expensive SPDIF coax cable.

You don't want to just use a standard audio or video cables, because they don't have the frequency or bandwidth to do the job.

Get a old fashioned RF cable, RG59 or RG6 will work fine, as long as your not expecting to use it for really hi end audio. For TV it works great.

Go down to your neighborhood cheap audio parts outlet and pickup a couple of RF coax to RCA plugs. Put one on each end of your RF coax cable and you now have a more than reasonable coax SPDIF audio cable.
