I had a similar issue with my mag on a LG tv I had to unplug the HDMI from the box reboot it and restart the tv once both came back online i plugged the device back in and it worked fine. I still have this issue from time to time so you can give it a try see if it works for you.

Also are you running this through a sound amplifier or direct to the TV?

So putting something in the USB port caused the sound to fail?

Do I ever need to firmware upgrade or update with T1 or it's automatically done?

Im sure they have OTA enabled but I would at least report the issue to them.

So putting something in the USB port caused the sound to fail?

There are "some" usb devices that will redirect the audio output to the USB port which leaves no audio out via HDMI. A USB microphone/headphone adapter will do that but others will depending on the type and if it relates to audio output.

the remote controls the android devices volume.. Kodi itself has different volume controls you can acces through the OSD menu while a show is playing
