Hi, I am trying to help a friend of mine with his kodi.

Basically he has an android box. Updated to kodi 16. Cleared all data so it is a fresh install.

Used the Ares wizard to download Pulse. I have tried this several times on my device and another friends device and all works well, but my other friend only has sound and no picture. We have tried playing with the acceleration settings but no joy.

Any pointers would be much appreciated as we cannot figure out what is wrong.

Thanks

have you check the video input on the android box

Where would I find that? In the android box settings somewhere?

We have tried playing with the acceleration settings but no joy. make sure you reboot every time you change that setting first

Just discovered he has a MBX box,
version 3.0.50
3.10.33

I am trying to help this guy while I am abroad, I am having to WiFi call him and check his settings.

Maybe his firmware is out of date? Really not sure.

His android version is 4.2
Mine is 4.4.2 and mine works fine, maybe his cannot handed kodi 16 jarvis?

If you are using the HDMI input make sure you have the "Digital audio auto-detection" set to on.

It's in the Settings ---> Advanced (If you using the MediaBox launcher front end).

I got caught out with this once?

It is definitely on. We checked all that.

Do you think it is because he is on jelly bean 4.2?

I am thinking to ask him to try a full factory reset

Update:

So after a factory reset of the MX box running 4.2

Fresh install of kodi, same problem. Sound with no picture. The icons are visible like play, stop, ff, rw etc.... But just no image. Tried changing acceleration settings. No joy. Tried all the box settings in regards to HDMI detection, no joy.

This problem only began when he upgraded to Jarvis 16. Running on 15.2 was fine so it leads me to think that something is not compatible somewhere. Even changed the HDMI cable for good measure.

Considering upgrading firmware, Any suggestions as to where I can find the right information for this if all other options are exhausted?

Thanks

I can confirm that to it is for sure compatible. I suppose you also tried lastest 16.1 RC1.
you can also try switch resolution of the box to 720P and see what happens.

OK I'll try to change the resolution, I assume you mean in the front end of the box and not in kodi itself

Got it sorted, turned off the acceleration in video settings, seems to have worked.

Thanks for all your help

Try going to the system and after that, go to video. And to Acceleration and make sure decoding method is on hardware accelerated. Then highlight all underneath, This time go to setting, other, more setting and then storage and scroll down to cache and clear for all apps.
