I'd really like the ability to "check out" an available mac address and serial number from the IPTV server. For example whenever a new subscription occurs, you get emailed your username/password and then a generated mac address and serial number from the server. The server would check against a database of all existing subscriptions with mac addresses and then make sure that no duplication occurs. Our unique IDs could be kept unique for each subscription as long as they have an active subscription. I think this would help not only with security but device id mismatches and having a mac address that is already in use. I'm sure the IPTV servers could do another check to make sure the username/password matches the assigned mac and serial number.
