If you can't use the HDMI out to watch TV and the Video out to record on a DVD recorder at the same time is there a way to record onto a sd card or USB?
What is the red light on the remote between the power button and home page button?

Just press the menu button on the remote on any program that you want to record, if the pop up/sub menu shows an option to record you just have to set the path to either SD card or USB., Navi-X does have this option for sure. Unfortunately the RCA outputs on the 1800 don't work like they do on the ATV1200. You must have the early model 1800, the newer one comes with a different remote, not sure what the RED button does, push it and see what happens.

I just tried that with the menu button and nothing happened nothing came up? are you saying that both the HDMI out and VIDEO out work at the same time on the 1200
so you could put the HDMI to the TV and the Video to a DVD recorder?

Just about any movie/tv program has some sort of info pop-up when you press the info/menu button on the remote. No guarantee that recording will be an option. As i said you can definately record when in the Navi-X program.

No, you cannot use the RCA & HDMI cable at the same time on model ATV1200. On my 1200 i have to use RCA out to DVD recorder then HDMI out to tv (from recorder).
