I have got my MAG 254 yesterday. It was a refurbished one. Refurbishing was done from infomir.

I am working with ethernet cable, the WLAN experience at the ROKU 3 - with headaches and heartaches after using the too strong ROKU 3 WLAN after nearly one hour - I will prevent with MAG 254.

The installation was easy, I changed to German language and inserted two Services/Servers for testing: WoWTV and upcoming Rocket Services. I choosed Network > Wired (Ethernet) > Auto (DHCP) and all entries appeared and seemed well. IP adresss, DNS and so on.

But I reached no Internet! No Service worked, not in Portal 1 and not in Portal 2 and also on the Inner Portal Youtube and Picasa would not start, Internet "Explorer" also not! Only the left top Symbol of Ethernet glowed yellow in Inner Portal!

Was this nice piece of technique not working ok? Have they made a failure with "refurbishing" that item? Have they made a failure to update the Linux OS with r10?

I phoned the seller. He only asking me if the both LEDs are on at the Ethernet port of MAG 254. I was on the mood to sent back the item, but I looked one last time on the Settings:

Gateway was on N/A and so I started again Network > Wired (Ethernet) > Manual and inserted manually:

IP address: 192.168.x.xx
Network mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.x.xxx
DNS Server: 192.168.x.xxx

Gateway and DNS Server have the same address! It is my router address.

And what should I say? The two Portals worked and on the Inner Portal (on the top left of the Screen) are are now glowing TWO symbols in yellow:

Global/Internet
WLAN
Ethernet

At my first testing of the device only the Ethernet Symbol was yellow: No Internet
Now there were two yellow symbols for Global/Internet AND Ethernet: Internet is working now!

That was my personal solution to bring my Mag 254 to the Internet!

not hard just click internet and will find ip

The device found the right IP address (but no GATWAY address) which the router gave to the MAG 254 in both tests!

But when I choosed Auto (DHCP) the item found the Internet for one or two seconds and afterwards the system showed in red: Internet unavailable!!

Therefore I choose manually to insert the addresses, also for GATEWAY. Then it worked like described.
