Mag recognizes my Seagate external USB HDD but can't get it to record or time shift on TV channels. Can they be done somehow?

The Mag has no probs with any HDD thrown at it...timeshift, diff story, I believe you need a live broadcast to use it. Should be no prob recording in real time..

I've tried and I get an error message and the recording stops. I once got time shift to pause but never again. Can you give more specific instructions how you are able to record a live TV channel? Thanks in advance.

No I haven't. What's the point of that? They're always there to see from any point. The question is how do you record and play back live TV on the Mag 254? You said you've done it.

Yes, that's the error message. Looks like maybe you can't record on the Mag 254 but let's wait to see what Koolkat has to say. He's the Android IPTV expert.

Oh it indeed does have this feature in the menus as well as time shifting but neither are working on the outer portal even though a connected USB drive is recognized. Looks like a Mag software glitch that hopefully will be fixed in future updates.

It has to be enabled in the middleware, I.e. The servers software running the backend channels etc

You go to settings in the stalker middleware.... then to "local Timeshift".... Then you activate it there but you need a usb or hdd to do it.
Then when they turn it on your good to go. If turned on in the inner portal, you should be able to time shift if you have a channel list loaded.

Has anybody find out how you record live stream using Mag. 254 to usb flash drive or external hard drive ?

If so, could you please tell me the instructions how to do it ?

Anybody knows what file format is the video file saved under ? Is it Ts ?
Is it saved to root directory or can be saved to subdirectory on usb drive storage?

Thanks

So what settings you put in local time shift here to enable recording?

Thanks

You already have permission from NFPS to record 10 hours, according to your choice.

Your saying we can time shift or record now?

I don't see how allowing record would clobber the servers.

From the server end, it is just like someone is watching tv.

The only difference is the mag/etc will change the channel, and record what it receives. Should be nothing to the server.

I said that already NFPS allow you to record up to 10 hours (total) , then this (10 hours) recording you can watch your in which timeshift area you want. I do not see for now any timeshift icons activated.
